Alternative Flooring are passionate about creating their floorcoverings in a way that contributes to the preservation of our planet, being completely transparent about their processes and using ethically-sourced natural fibres wherever they can. Partnering with Bristol-based environmental organisation Ecologi, they are involved in a range of incredible projects that have sustainability in mind, some of which are conducted in countries where Alternative Flooring source their plant fibre materials, which they actively work to give back to.


All Alternative Flooring’s packaging for their products is made from recycled materials and can be recycled again, and all of their sampling and marketing materials are also made with environmentally-friendly packaging from FSC-accredited sources. They have also moved 80% of their financial and sales communications to the digital space in a bid to move away from paper, as well as refitting their HQ exclusively with LED lighting options.


Not only that, but Alternative Flooring has planted nearly 15,000 so far in their Alternative Forest, as well as supporting reforestation projects in Mozambique, planting responsibly projects in Bosawas, and mangrove planting in Madagascar. Their mangrove trees actually capture up to four times as much carbon per acre than tropical rainforests, helping to support the effects of climate change.

Each of their carpets also comes with a five-year warranty, with a tree planted in their Alternative Forest for every sample ordered.
